On March 31, 2026, The University of Connecticut terminated the College Benefits Group voluntary benefits administration agreement after sixty-one years.
In 1965, Charles Dyson started College Benefits Group to manage group benefits at universities, colleges, and associations. Charles was the first to introduce expanded group employee benefits in higher education consortia, and the first to introduce voluntary employee benefits at many institutions and organizations.
On April 1, 2026, a new third-party administrator is now managing and implementing all voluntary Group Universal Life insurance plans and the twenty-three disability insurance plans presently offered by Metropolitan Life Insurance company and The Hartford Life Insurance company respectively.
College Benefits Group offered to work diligently with the University of Connecticut benefits office and the new third-party administrator to make the management transition of UConn voluntary benefits as seamless as possible for our policy holders, but our offer to help during the transition was not utilized.
If you are a existing participant in voluntary employee benefits previously administered by College Benefits Group please contact The University of Connecticut benefits office for information about the new administrator of your voluntary employee benefits.
We hope the best for the University of Connecticut benefits department and the new third-party administrator of UConn voluntary benefits.
It has been an honor to serve the University of Connecticut faculty and staff.
